This spring, TFCU hosted its second Teachers + TFCU sweepstakes where we asked our social media followers to nominate their favorite teacher to win $2,000 from the TFCU financial empowerment team. You all shared the love! TFCU randomly chose three winners out of more than 500 nominations and were excited to award these deserving Oklahoma teachers with $2,000 each. The winners were Alexius Rayford, KIPP OKC College Prep Middle School drama teacher; Kayla Lytle, Sequoyah Middle School science teacher; and Chad Boese, Norman North High School student government and introduction to leadership teacher.

“To get to see kids figure life out and grow up and become successful, not just successful in a career, but successful human beings that are willing to give back to a community and work in a community is priceless,” said Boese. “I say all the time how grateful I am and how blessed I am to get to do what I do and I wouldn’t change a thing.”

Since 2008, TFCU’s financial empowerment team has been actively presenting free, in-person and virtual financial education workshops throughout the state of Oklahoma at schools, businesses and other civic and tribal organizations. These workshops help adults and youth learn the importance of good money management skills, with topics ranging from how to set a budget to using financial resources for various life stages and events. The financial empowerment team and the Teachers + TFCU sweepstakes are some of the ways TFCU lives up to the credit union motto of people helping people by meeting community needs across the state of Oklahoma.
