TFCU will be hosting a special shred day on Saturday, June 8 for victims of the EF-5 tornado that came through Moore. This is a community shred day open to all residents of the affected area. It will be held at First Baptist Church of Moore, 301 N.E. 27th Street, from 9:00-11:30 a.m.

Rite Way Shredding will have a truck on-site on the east side of the church building. This special shred day will give members and residents of Moore an opportunity to securely dispose of unneeded paperwork that has sensitive information, such as Social Security numbers or account numbers that may be unsecure due to storm damage.

“Dumpster diving” or sifting through trash cans to find this type of information is still one of the primary ways criminals obtain information to perpetrate identity theft and other fraudulent activity. With looting being common after natural disasters, we urge citizens to properly dispose of any documents they may find during recovery.

To ensure we can accommodate everyone, we ask members and residents to please limit the amount of paperwork for shredding to three boxes (approximately 18 inches by 12 inches) per person. This shred day is intended for residents’ personal paperwork only. Local businesses may make arrangements with Rite Way Shredding to dispose of business-related documents at another time.

TFCU employees will be on-site to assist members and residents during the shred day.
