‘It’s a Dream Come True’ Says Rose State Student and ‘College Cash’ Winner

Biological sciences major Ayden Gates from Rose State College is one of the 2024 winners of the TFCU “College Cash” contest. “I’m sure glad I threw my name in the hat and won,” said Ayden.

“I’ve been a member of TFCU since my mom signed me up way back when. I have checking, savings and just recently paid off my first-time buyer auto loan with the credit union,” said Ayden.

Ayden took a break between high school and college to work in HVAC, but decided to pivot and pursue his passion for science. “Anything to do with science, I love it. This semester I’m studying zoology, cell biology and physiology – all of the ‘ologies’,” he explained.

What does Ayden plan to do with the winnings? “I want to pay off my credit card that I’ve been using for everyday expenses, then spend a little on me for a new tattoo. The rest will go towards next semester’s tuition.”

“TFCU has helped me so much, not only from this contest but from great rates on cards to the auto loan which helped build my credit,” Ayden said. “I really couldn’t see myself using any other bank or credit union.”

Students attending Oklahoma colleges, universities and technical schools are encouraged to enter the TFCU “College Cash” contest in August and early September. Five lucky students each win $5,000 to use toward school, living and other expenses.
