TFCU members Roland and Linda Baker from Sparks, OK, were the lucky winners of the 2023 Storm Shelter Loan Payoff, winning $3,694 to pay off their TFCU loan to build a storm shelter.
Longtime members of TFCU, the Bakers said they got their storm shelter loan from the credit union because “we always borrow our money from here – they treat you right!”
The Bakers couldn’t believe they were the lucky winners.
“I told Roland, I’ll believe it when I get the paper that says it’s paid off,”’ joked his wife Linda. “We’re going to frame the paper receipt!” They came to the TFCU Shawnee branch to sign off on their payoff.
Now both retired (Roland was a forklift operator for 34 years), they look forward to using their winnings to take more trips this year.
“We do a lot of traveling and camping; this will be nice to help a little!” said Linda.
TFCU’s annual Storm Shelter Loan Payoff winners are selected at random from member loans in good standing. It is just one of many ways the credit union gives back to members all year long.
